One treatment is to try a six-food elimination diet and if it is successful, reintroduce the six foods one-by-one to determine which cause the reaction. The "six foods" eliminated are actually the same as the eight major food allergens, i.e., wheat, dairy, soy, eggs, nuts/peanuts and fish/shellfish. Table 2 in this article gives the suggested order of food reintroduction following a six-food elimination diet. The lists are different for adults and children.
