Green Tea, Probiotics, Cheerios, and GlutenFreeWatchdog!: Recently, some green tea leaves have been found to have gluten contamination, and in a different study, about half of the tested probiotics contained gluten. Unfortunately, research studies such as these typically don't reveal the name of the contaminated products, so that consumers can take steps to avoid them!
Gluten Free Watchdog, run by dietitian Tricia Thompson, does independent testing. Subscribers are given the names of the products along with the test results. It is similar to a "Consumer Reports" for gluten-free food. She has tested green teas, is currently testing probiotics, and has also been working to determine whether the new gluten-free Cheerios are truly gluten-free. She sometimes posts news and makes it available to the public without a subscription, and here are her latest recommendations regarding Cheerios: https://www.glutenfreewatchdog.org/news/gluten-free-cheerios-updated-position-statement/
